In 2017, Microsoft announced a new feature called Azure virtual desktops or A-V-D. They are software that allows you to create virtual machines on your local computer and then access them from anywhere in the world.
The Azure Virtual Desktop is a concept that Microsoft introduced to help map out business goals based on data available in the cloud. The company says the feature is ideal for remote workers. It can also be used to create websites from different locations and share content with colleagues without having to physically log on to the corporate office or at least not spend time in front of a computer screen. It is a tool that can be used for either hosting your own VM or for creating a VM from scratch. Providing up to 5 times the performance of standard Linux VMs on a single 14-inch screen.
We should not think of these Azure Virtual Desktops as a replacement for virtual machines. They provide the same performance and but don’t require additional hardware and software to be installed on your machine.
